Chicago Fire FC and Inter Miami CF shared the points in a compelling 1-1 MLS draw at Soldier Field on Wednesday night, with Robert Lewandowski’s early volley answered by Casemiro’s second-half header.
Chicago made a sharp start and were rewarded in the 10th minute. Lewandowski struck a clean volley to give the Fire a 1-0 lead, providing the home side with the decisive edge through an energetic opening half.
Inter Miami had to absorb that early setback, as well as a pair of first-half yellow cards for Telasco Segovia and Maximiliano Falcón, but the visitors gradually imposed themselves on the fixture. Miami finished with 55.7 percent possession, 20 shots and seven efforts on target, consistently asking questions of Chicago’s defensive structure.
The equaliser arrived soon after the interval. Casemiro rose to head Inter Miami level in the 48th minute, turning the momentum of the match and ensuring Chicago’s first-half advantage did not last long into the second period.
Both sides had opportunities to find a late winner, though neither could convert. Chicago produced 10 shots, with three on target, while Inter Miami’s greater volume of attempts ultimately yielded only Casemiro’s goal. The contest also carried plenty of bite, with Chicago’s Jonathan Dean and D’Avilla Dje Tah booked after the break and Miami’s Germán Berterame shown a yellow card in the 71st minute.
In the end, the draw reflected a match of contrasting spells: Chicago were clinical early through Lewandowski, while Inter Miami responded with control and sustained pressure after the restart. The Fire move on to host New England Revolution on Sunday, while Inter Miami travel to face Nashville SC on Saturday.
