Orlando City SC produced one of the most dramatic turnarounds of the Major League Soccer weekend, overturning a two-goal halftime deficit to beat Inter Miami CF 4-3 at Nu Stadium on Saturday night.
It looked for long stretches like Miami were cruising toward a statement home result after first-half goals from Ian Fray in the 4th minute, Telasco Segovia in the 25th, and Lionel Messi in the 33rd put the hosts firmly in control. But Orlando refused to fold. Martín Ojeda began the comeback with a goal in the 39th minute, then took over after the interval with strikes in the 68th and 78th minutes, the latter from the penalty spot, before Tyrese Spicer completed the smash-and-grab in the 90’+3′.
The opening stages belonged entirely to Inter Miami. Fray struck in the 4th minute to ignite the home crowd, and Miami’s front line looked sharp whenever they drove at Orlando’s back line. Segovia doubled the advantage in the 25th minute, capping another slick attacking move, and Messi made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute with the kind of clinical finish that seemed to put the fixture beyond Orlando’s reach.
Yet the visitors found a vital foothold before the break. Ojeda’s 39th-minute goal changed the mood inside the stadium and gave Orlando a route back into the match at 3-1 down heading into halftime.
From there, the second half shifted completely. Orlando were more direct, more efficient, and far more ruthless in the decisive moments. While Miami still controlled plenty of the ball and finished with 64.2 percent possession, 26 total shots, 10 shots on target, and 10 corners, they could not manage the contest when momentum turned against them.
Ojeda’s second goal in the 68th minute ratcheted up the tension, and suddenly every Orlando attack carried real menace. Ten minutes later, the Argentine completed his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 78th minute to level the match at 3-3. It was a devastating swing for Miami, who had also seen frustration spill over with several bookings, including yellow cards for Yannick Bright in the 52nd minute, Rodrigo De Paul in the 59th, and Messi in the 78th.
Even then, there was still one final twist. Deep into stoppage time, with Miami pushing and the contest stretched, Spicer struck in the 90’+3′ to complete an extraordinary Orlando comeback and silence the home support.
The raw numbers made the result even more striking. Miami outshot Orlando 26-13 and held a commanding edge in possession, but Orlando turned nine shots on target into four goals and punished Miami’s defensive lapses with ruthless efficiency. In a match that felt open almost throughout, the visitors showed the sharper edge where it mattered most.
For Orlando City, this was a resilient, high-quality road win built on belief and finishing. Ojeda was the undeniable match-winner with his three-goal haul, while Spicer supplied the decisive late dagger. For Inter Miami, the night will sting. Scoring three times at home should have been enough, especially after such a dominant first half, but their inability to control transitions and protect the lead turned a promising evening into a painful defeat.
