Paris Saint-Germain turned Stamford Bridge into a stage for their attacking quality on Tuesday night, brushing aside Chelsea 3-0 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture and advancing 8-2 on aggregate.

The tie was effectively settled inside the opening quarter-hour. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck first in the 6th minute to silence the home support, and Bradley Barcola doubled PSG’s advantage in the 14th minute as the visitors seized complete control of both the match and the two-leg contest.

Chelsea tried to respond with energy and volume, finishing with 18 shots, 9 efforts on target and 9 corners, but PSG were far more clinical. The French side had only 8 shots and 5 on target, yet still came away with three goals and another polished European away performance.

There was no way back for the hosts after the break. PSG managed the tempo well, kept the ball for 54.2 percent of possession, and waited for another opening. It arrived in the 62nd minute when substitute Senny Mayulu added the third goal of the night, putting the result beyond doubt and underlining the gulf in efficiency between the sides.

Chelsea’s pressure came in spells, but they could not find the finishing touch their approach play deserved. Nine shots on target without a goal tells its own story, whether through wasteful finishing or PSG’s composure in key moments. For the home side, this was a frustrating evening in front of their own supporters and a harsh end to their European campaign.

For PSG, though, this was the sort of mature knockout performance managers dream of away from home: early incision, control in possession, and ruthless finishing in both halves. Kvaratskhelia’s 6th-minute opener set the tone, Barcola’s 14th-minute goal tightened PSG’s grip, and Mayulu’s 62nd-minute finish completed the job.
